Hybrid Layer 2 Network
This section outlines the key players in Laika's ecosystem:
Smart Contracts: These govern, track, and secure the network. They verify data directly on the L2 and provide corresponding L1 data for complete verification. Additionally, they offer on-chain governance through Laika Token voting.
Validators: Responsible for validating L2 transactions, generating blocks (similar to Proof-of-Stake), and verifying sequencer work.
Sequencers: Responsible for writing transaction and block data onto the Dogecoin chain while verifying it.
Hybrid L2 Approach for Speed and Security:
Laika leverages a hybrid approach combining Plasma Chain and Rollups (ZK and Optimistic) to achieve its goals:
Fast Transactions: Execute transactions on the L2 network in as low as 3 seconds.
Secured Transactions: Verify and write data on the Dogecoin blockchain within 1 minute, ensuring transaction finality under 1 minute.
Ease of Use: This hybrid approach aims for a user-friendly and easily integrable network.
Bridging Assets and Expanding Functionality:
Dogecoin and Laika Token Bridging: Users can move Dogecoin and Laika Token between L1 and L2.
Future Expansion: The bridge may support NFTs and DRC20 tokens, allowing existing Dogecoin projects to offer improved decentralized services on Laika.
Verifiable and Secure by Design:
Security Focus: Security and verifiability are paramount. All L2 actions are verifiable on L1.
Remediation Processes: Mechanisms exist to maintain the network within defined specifications.
Transparent Governance: Smart contracts govern validator and sequencer actions, minimizing the risk of misconduct.
Validator Decentralization: Initially managed by the Laika Team, the network aims to transition to a permissionless validator system.
